Bug's Eye View
For this edit I darkened the exposure but lighted the highlights to get a more vintage and contrasting image. What I like about this photo is that the dark shadows around the wood really contrast and make the light highlights pop. I shot this photo in my kitchen and tried to level myself slightly with the windowsill to get more of the bug's eye perspective without getting too close to the subject where it would be out of focus.

Filling the Frame (edit) |
Filling the Frame - Edited
This was by far one of my favorite edited photos. I increased the clarity so you could see the detail and dirt on the window which really shows the isolation of the subject in the photo. I also added a blue tint and highlighted the subject a bit for a softer and sleepier mood. I shot this photo looking out onto my porch as my dog slept and really tried to fill the frame with my dog while and have no part of her left out of the frame.

Rule of Thirds - Edited
On this photo I increased the saturation and and highlights to lighten the already dark photo. I enjoyed how the colors were very fluid and consistent as gold with the contrast of the white light fixture. In having the two lights on either side of the photo it offers this competing element of which light to look at, I like the divide that the thirds of the photo creates. I took this photo in the bathroom of a Russian restaurant, the striking detail of the mirror and really drew my attention.

Leading Lines (edit) |
Leading Lines - Edited
I heavily increased the saturation on this photo which gave the illusion of a sunset or sunrise. With the reflection of the blinds on the window there are multiple leading lines that are created with hints of shadows on the reflection. In looking for leading lines I tried to get close to the line along my windowsill and angle my camera down the line to create the illusion of leading lines and capture the reflection off the window.

Diagonals - Edited
With the bright composition in the center of the photo I really wanted to darken the background to have focus on the railing and light. I darkened the exposure and highlights as well as increased the clarity so you could see the relfection of the glass on the wall which adds another textual aspect to the photo.

Close Up |

Close Up (edit) |
Close Up - Edited
For this close up I had to physically get into my oven to get a close up of this dirty light. When I added to the clarity it darkened and added to the grime that was all over the light. Along with this I reduced the vibrancy so the yellow of the light became more white and grey. While I was walking down the stairwell after school, the afternoon light was very centralized and striking on the wall and drew my attention along with the diagonal of the railing.

Frame Within A Frame - Edited
For this picture I increased the saturation a bit and added a bit of a green tint. To really focus in on the 'frame' part of the photo I cropped out just the top of the photo which was a bit distracting. I really enjoyed this photo because of its candid factor, I saw this pastry case and I wanted to take a picture of it but this woman was in the way. I went ahead and took the shot anyway and really ended up enjoy the other element the woman played in being the subject of the photo.

Bird's Eye View
As I was looking down from my balcony to get this bird's eye view shot this woman came out to smoke a cigarette. I lighted the contrast and reduced the vibrancy to create a more monotone feeling in the picture.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of the photo along with the subtle crack in the concrete that goes across the photo.

Contact Sheet 2 |
For this assignment we had eight different composition and framing techniques that we had to shoot and then edit. Along with this we shot in different ways such as landscape, portrait, square, ect. After we shot our photos we uploaded them into light room and edited the three best of each techniques. We then compiled the best photo for each technique onto a contact sheet.
