Angeline Carol Geist
St. Francis Church, Ridgefield Park, NJ
This is an image of my Great Grandmother Angeline Carol Geist who was born in Northampton, PA May 18th 1916. She studied to be a surgical nurse at a postgraduate hospital in New York, NY. The image included above of her was actually taken on her honeymoon, around the late 1930's, after she had gotten married in Saint Francis Church in Ridgefield Park, NJ (image included above). Her parents met in Montparnasse, France and got married two years after they met. My great great grandparents then moved to NY, NY because my great great grandfather had cousins that lived in there. They then worked as butlers, chauffeurs, and governesses for extremely wealthy families in Duchess Country, New York. After 10 years of working they moved to the city on West 80th street and bought a house and an apartment house. Due to curiosity I went onto google maps to West 80th street and looked up and down to see if there were any stone apartment houses. There were a couple, however, one of them drew my attention and I looked up the address and did a little research and it was built in 1900, which would have been around the time my great great grandparents bought their house and it is described as a 'brown stone building' which is exactly what my grandfather said in the email he sent me. Although I have no way of knowing if this was the exact house I included an image above of the small house that I found online. My great great grandparents died when Angeline was only 16 years old so she lived with family until she went to nursing school.
